I watch public posts about our brand so I can answer questions and fix wrong facts. Customers sometimes post about a problem before they ask support for help.
I save the link and give each post an owner. That person can reply, ask support to help, or save the feedback.
My brand reputation monitoring list
I track our company and product names, web address, social account names, and common misspellings. Known faults get their own search terms. Customers may name the product without tagging our account.
I look for questions, complaints, reviews, and wrong facts about our product. I open the full post before I reply. Short previews can leave out the part that needs an answer.
Brandwatch’s guide to brand mentions says to track other forms of the brand name and names of key people. I track founder names when people use them in posts. I keep competitor posts apart from posts about us.
Private groups and deleted posts stay out of most search tools. I search for our exact name by hand each week. If the name also means something else, I add our product name to the search.

When I answer a public complaint
I read the full post and check the date. Then I check the facts with support or product staff. I don’t ask for account details in a public reply.
I name the fault in plain words and give the person one step they can take. The reply says where I’ll post an update. If I need an account ID, I ask them to send it to support instead of posting it in the thread.
I don’t argue with a customer or promise a fix date we have not confirmed. If a post gets a product fact wrong, I correct that fact and link to the current product page. I leave the rest of the person’s review alone.
Keep open posts moving
I give each post a status and an owner. Support handles account issues. Product staff handle repeat faults. Social media staff answer simple questions. I ask someone with the right facts to check a serious claim.
I check my keywords each week. If a term finds unrelated posts, I add a product word or remove it. I go through open posts and repeat complaints at the same time.
Mentionkit lets me give a post an owner and see whether anyone has replied.
Conclusion
I want the person who posted a real fault to see the next step in that same thread. Closing a private support ticket does not answer the public question. I leave the post open until I can return with an update.
